“In Numen Human, we look at the potential to act and to build. We create events and images with a scenography of boxes, bodies and projections. We are four participants from dance and the visual arts. The uniqueness of our approach is that we work together with all components of the project, stage design, performance and dramaturgy regardless of previous experience and professional role as we build, dance and set lights.Numen Human addresses issues around human needs and the search for security and belonging. The shifting landscape of boxes and bodies leads the audience on a captivating journey through the poetic set design.
In Numen Human, we work with the human phenomenon. Man is an event that can not be limited, which can not be simplified or belittled. That approach has guided us in the work process, the selection of theatrical form grip and develop the show’s theme. The show is a collaboration between the Sámi artist Hilde Skancke Pedersen, Alexandra Wingate, Lena Kimming, Pia Nordin, Ina Dokmo (who are all active in dance and choreography) and Cha Blasco – music composer and multidisciplinary artist. Along the way we have worked with Ejnar Askberger, Stine Marcinkowski, Marianne Kjærsund and Anders Rimpi.Numen Human has the support of the City of Gothenburg, the Swedish Arts Council, Tanum Municipality, Culture Point, Beaivvas Sami National Theatre in Norway and Samiske Kunstneres og Forfatteres pay fund. The project has received the production guidance of Michael Norlind within the framework of the Centre for Theatrical Motion and Own Creative Research Residency. The residence is organized in collaboration with Culture of the West, Tanum Municipality and Gerlesborgsskolan.”
