Mullvadens Sång (Song of the Mole) is a musical performance piece exploring the vocal and musical landscapes of grief. The work seeks to open up a shared experience of sorrow as a physical, metaphorical, and musical place. It is an invitation to listen inward—to the body and its resonant landscapes.

What space is given to crying in our society? And how can individual and collective grief be transformed into artistic expression?

These questions have been central to Johanna Ståhl’s artistic practice over several years. Song of the Mole has emerged from this ongoing process, and in musical collaboration with Cha Blasco.

On stage stands a solitary Weeper—a figure who gathers the grief of others, transforming it into vocal expression, movement, and text in an intimate, resonant ritual.

The crying moves through the body.

The mouth opens.
