KILL A CAT SHOW

Concept and choreography by Alexandra Wingate. Kill a Cat Show explores and embodies the unholy alliance between sexuality, power and money where the body becomes a commodity. More than individual human actions the work gives form to this as a process and as a condition, and embody this in a faceless and voiceless perfect object.

The work is a study in the almost alchemical processes between movement, clothes, light and sound that creates “sexyness” and the impression of glamor. And draws a aesthetic and emotional line between the hyper-aestheticized females we see in popular culture and the darker “results” of sexual objectification.

At the same time, the audience will witness a subject, but the subject requires different things from the viewer. In this the work searches for a collision between the language “sexy” and the presence of a subject.
